treated with olive oil or cutting board oil.
One day we met Hamid. He was sitting under a street lamp working on a piece of furniture for the Marrakech souk. I asked him to make some cutting boards from scraps he had. They sold quickly. I ordered 100. He beamed. I exhibited them at Formex. Then came an order for 1500. His life is suddenly dignified. He gets well paid for his work, has installed electricity in his workshop and is up and running.
A cutting board is a cutting board, but the story behind it changes people's lives.
